Una Semana

With one week until my departure I'm trying to get into 'spanish mode' again. After all, its the 'mode' I'll be living in for 5 months. So in this lackluster attempt, I make popcorn, some tea, and get comfortable in bed watching Spanish movies. One of my favorite directors, Pedro Almodovar, is from Spain and makes really beautifully intriguing films. These last few nights I watched Volver and Todo Sobre Mi Madre again, both very well done. And man, as if I need to say this, Penelope Cruz is such a babe. More importantly, she's a really talented actress. I hope she takes away the Oscar this year. (Although, I haven't seen Doubt and The Wrestler). No wonder Almodovar casts her in, it seems like, all his movies.

Speaking of which, I've been waiting for a trailer for almost a year for their newest movie together, Abrazos Rotos...This just in on IMDB:
The plot details of this contemporary thriller are being kept secret so the official synopsis is bare bones: "Fourteen years after having an accident that left him blind, a writer and filmmaker remembers the circumstances that surrounded him and the woman that he loved"

All I found was a teaser trailer, check it out.

So tomorrow, I'll start my last weekend in San Francisco off with an RA interview and then some quality time at 447 4th Ave.  Tonight, maybe I'll rent ¡Átame! an Almodovar I haven't seen.
